Step back in time and experience the sights and sounds of a Civil War Encampment at Furnace Town. The Sons of Confederate Veterans and soldier re-enactors will set up camp in the village the weekend of July 21-23.
You can walk through the soldier’s campsites and see soldiers readying for battle. You’ll see what life was like for a soldier with cooking demonstrations, soldiers mustering and drills, and you’ll learn about the Civil War and the role the Eastern Shore of Maryland played in the war.
Visitors can also tour our historic nineteenth-century village with its collection of nineteenth-century buildings and authentic artifacts, or stop and visit with our artisans in the in the blacksmith shop, broom house, weave house, spin house, schoolhouse, print shop, and woodshop.
Purchase handmade goods from our artisans and merchants in the Gift Shop. Choose from soaps, brooms, rugs, jams, honey, toys, and gifts.
